Nancy Lemieux and André Anglehart would like to welcome you to l’Auberge des Glacis
When two journalists become inn keepers
We are two former journalists who decided to change paths and build on a project with our children, in which each of us can accomplish our dreams, our passions.
This magnificent inn, nestled in an former seigniorial mill, is revealed as an ideal place to live and to make you live an unforgettable adventure… at our gastronomic table, in the comfort of our rooms, at the edge of the river, close to the lake, in the solarium with a good book or simply strolling down one of our trails.
When we discovered l’Auberge des Glacis, we thought we had seen everything and knew every region in Quebec. When in fact, we were completely surprised by our first visit to the Côte-du-Sud region, in June 2006.
When taking the Lamartine road, we marvelled at the beauty of the scenery, the diversity of the cultures, the splendour of the orchards in flower. And always in the background, the majestic seaway.
At that moment when we asked ourselves do we continue straight ahead, the sign for the inn appeared and we carried on along Tortue road. After passing through a tree tunnel of greenery, the former mill appeared like a mirage. Nettled at the foot of the Appalachians, the building is impressive. As one quietly approaches, we discover a river that snakes through this domain of 5 hectares.
Even after passing through the door, the magical effect follows; we travel back in time. The stone walls speak to us; of lives of families, love stories, enriched encounters. We were seduced…you will be too.
Nancy Lemieux and André Anglehart created a real surprise in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, in the Spring of 2006, when they announced their departure of this region and, above all, their intention of realizing their dream to become inn keepers, a project they had entertained for a long time.
Nancy Lemieux is originally from St. Romuald, near Lévis. She was a journalist in Rouyn-Noranda for 8 years. Firstly, antenna chief at CFEM-TVA (Radio North) from 1998 to 2001. She was then hired by Radio-Canada in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, for the last three years as the regional station co-ordinator for Première Chaine. A perfectionist, she was known for her rigour, her interest in team work, her humorous communication and warmth.
On the other hand, André Anglehart was employed by Radio North Communications for 15 years. He cumulated the functions as journalist, Antenna Chief of CKRN-TV, regional correspondent for RDI and Desk Chief. He was particularly busy with shows on public affairs like Point de Vue and Ce Soir Plus. He loves cooking, good wine and above all, the pleasure of sharing his table.
Their first objective is to continue the excellent work accomplished by their predecessors, Micheline Sibuet and Pierre Watters who now devote their time to the distribution of Thés Kusmi of Canada.
Nancy and André continue to encourage the local producers and artists by putting the region in the immediate plans.
Nancy and André invite you to come and discover or rediscover the joy of the Côte-du-Sud region. The two open their doors… you are at home here.
